Lisa Raymond of Florida concluded her collegiate career by successfully defending her singles title with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Cinda Gurney of North Carolina on Thursday in the NCAA women’s tennis championships at Gainesville, Fla.

Gurney, of Palos Verdes, won the first two games, but fell victim to Raymond’s passing shots and slicing backhands in a match that lasted only 49 minutes.

Raymond, a sophomore, will pass up her final two years of eligibility to turn professional.
