Prosecutors in Las Vegas, Nev., on Friday lodged felony charges against seven union pickets captured on videotape beating a Moorpark couple outside the Frontier Hotel last month.

The most serious charge contained in the indictment, felony battery, was filed against four of the pickets and carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, said Clark County Deputy Dist. Atty. Sylvia Teuton.

Other charges were misdemeanor battery, assault with a deadly weapon, coercion, disturbing the peace and provoking the commission of breach of peace, Teuton said.

Named in the indictment were Gregory Allen Jones, Dennis Ray James, Debra Ann Pollard, Alfie Beatrice Murray, Sanford Lee Davis, Johnny Ray Perry and Lonnie Jay Wilkes. All but one of the defendants had surrendered to authorities as of Friday afternoon, Teuton said.

The seven, who will be arraigned June 1, allegedly beat Gail and Sean White of Moorpark as they left the Frontier Hotel on April 25. The Culinary Union Local 226 has been striking the hotel since September, 1991.

According to an investigator in the Clark County district attorney’s office, Sean White suffered a shattered left cheekbone and a facial cut that required stitches, along with bumps and bruises. Gail White sustained bumps and bruises on her face and body.
