2 Teens Arrested in Car Shooting

Two 15-year-old boys were arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting out the rear window of a car driven by two young men they mistakenly believed were rival gang members, police said Sunday.

A third juvenile suspect was still at large Sunday, and police have not found the gun that was used.

Sgt. Bonnie Wolf said a group of gang members, including the three suspects, were in a restaurant parking lot at Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street just before 6 p.m. Saturday when they got into an altercation with two young men from Long Beach.

“It was a case of mistaken identity,” Wolf said. “They thought the Long Beach guys were rival gang members from Fullerton.”

As the victims got in their car and began to drive away, four or five shots were fired, shattering the rear window of the car, Wolf said. Neither of the Long Beach men were injured.

The identities of the juvenile suspects were not released because of their age.
