LOMITA : Boy, 3, Drowns in Family’s Back-Yard Swimming Pool
A 3-year-old Lomita boy accidentally drowned in his family’s back-yard swimming pool, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
The child, whose name was withheld, died at Torrance Memorial Medical Center shortly after Sunday’s 12:30 p.m. accident in the home on 255th Street, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Britta Tubbs.
“He was last seen playing in the front yard, while his father and a friend were completing home improvements,” Tubbs said.
After about five minutes, the father realized his son was missing and the two men started looking for him, Tubbs said, adding that the water in the pool was murky.
“The men started searching the back yard after discovering a side door wide open,” Tubbs said.
