‘janet.’ Scores Big: Janet Jackson’s new “janet.” album sold an estimated 350,000 copies during its first week in the stores--outdistancing her brother Michael’s 1991 first-week “Dangerous” album sales splash by about 6%. That’s also quadruple the sales punch of rival releases and moves “janet.” into the No. 1 spot on the nation’s pop Billboard chart, which hits the newsstands Saturday. Jackson’s sultry new collection sold about 271,000 copies more than Whitney Houston’s “Bodyguard” soundtrack and 283,000 more than Aerosmith’s “Get a Grip,” which will rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
