Assemblyman Knight
Recently, Assemblyman Pete Knight (R-Palmdale) distributed a fascinating poem that revealed his deep understanding of the complex issue of immigration reform and the legal status and rights of undocumented workers and their children (May 20). After reading a few stanzas, I was inspired to write my own little poem:
A certain Assemblyman Pete,
Distributed verse he thought “neat.”
But the poem was so vile,
There can be no denial
That Pete ain’t no cult’ral elite.
If Knight is concerned about the impact of undocumented workers on the local economy, I urge him to grapple with the issue in a mature, reasoned fashion. However, if all he can contribute to the Legislature is racist doggerel, then I would suggest that he is not up to the job of California assemblyman.
