Youth Injured in Drive-By Shooting
A 17-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon when a gunman in a speeding car fired several times, sheriff’s deputies said.
The teen-ager, whose identity was not released, was standing with a group of four or five other youths when the gunfire erupted about 4:10 p.m. in the 18700 block of Center Street, said Lt. William Francis. The car passenger who shot the youth did not say anything before opening fire, and the motive behind the shooting was not clear.
Deputies said the victim was shot through the right shoulder and was in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital.
Investigators said they did not have a detailed description of the car, which had two people inside.
