From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Macy’s to Enter TV Retailing: Joining the crush of retailers jostling to sell their wares on cable television, R.H. Macy & Co. said it plans to enter TV retailing. The company, which was reported to be considering launching its own shopping channel, plans to announce details of its plans at a news conference Tuesday, it said in a press release. Shopping via cable, once considered the lowest form of retailing, has gained respect since Barry Diller, the former head of Fox Inc., bought a big stake in QVC, a home shopping network. With growth in sales through traditional stores faltering, retailers are increasingly looking to the $2-billion-a-year TV-shopping industry as a new source of revenue.
