The Flygirls of television’s “In Living Color” make hip-hop dancing look easy.

Youngsters who tackle the funky maneuvers of the high-energy jazz dance during a 12-week class at the North Valley YWCA can judge for themselves.

The hip-hop class is being offered for the first time alongside tap, ballet and folklorico dancing to Mexican folk tunes.

The YWCA’s summer offerings also include courses on martial arts, gymnastics, guitar, creative drama, tumbling and an after-school program called the Y Kids Club, which provides activities and snacks for 8- to 12-year-olds. The club meets weekdays from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and costs $45 a month.
