Teen-Ager Drowns in Pool Accident
An 18-year-old Huntington Beach youth drowned Monday after he hit his head diving into a pool, police said.
Lawrence C. Crichfield was pronounced dead at Huntington Beach Medical Center shortly after the 5:20 p.m. accident at his parents’ home in the 15000 block of Placid Circle.
According to police, Crichfield’s cousin found him lying on the bottom of the pool and called for help. A neighbor, identified as Michael D. Hugh, pulled the the teen-ager out of the shallow end of the pool and started to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Paramedics also tried unsuccessfully to revive him.
