Griego Elected as Director, First Interstate Bank Says

First Interstate Bank of California on Tuesday announced the election of Linda Griego to its board of directors.

Griego, a former deputy mayor of the city of Los Angeles, will be one of 10 members of the board of First Interstate’s California bank, the principal subsidiary of Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bancorp.

Griego served as one of two deputies to Mayor Tom Bradley from November, 1991, until January of this year, when she resigned to run for mayor.

As deputy mayor in charge of economic development, she oversaw the Community Redevelopment Agency and other city departments, commissions and agencies. She was also responsible for promoting domestic exports and foreign investment in Los Angeles.

Hiromu Kito has joined Tokai Bank of California as senior vice president. Kito fills the position vacated by Vice President Katsuyoshi Narumiya, who has been reassigned to Tokai Bank Ltd.’s research department in Tokyo.

Prior to joining Tokai Bank of California, Kito was assistant general manager of the consumer banking group with the Tokai Bank Ltd. in Tokyo.

Edward McGrath, director of retail services at Home Savings of America, the primary subsidiary of Irwindale-based H.F. Ahmanson & Co., has been promoted to executive vice president.

As director of retail services, McGrath is responsible for the company’s network of 372 savings branches nationwide. He is also responsible for overseeing retail marketing, branch and support services and the company’s Griffin financial services division.

Eric Johnson has been promoted to senior vice president and assistant director of HSA Servicing Corp., the loan servicing affiliate of Home Savings of America.

As assistant director, Johnson is responsible for overseeing the customer service, training, policy and procedure, branch liaison, and loan research and analysis departments of HSA.

World Title Co. has named Jack Harris executive vice president and chief operations officer. Before joining the Burbank-based company, Harris was a senior vice president and regional manager with Fidelity Title Co. He will work out of the firm’s new Orange County headquarters.
