Countywide : Santa Ana Freeway to Close Sporadically
Caltrans is continuing several nighttime closures of the Santa Ana Freeway because of a widening project.
A shutdown of the northbound and southbound lanes of the freeway from The City Drive to Main Street is scheduled from 11 tonight to 5 a.m. Thursday.
The southbound lanes will be closed again from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. The same closure will occur at 11 p.m Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, with repeated closures through 5 a.m. June 10.
Caltrans said the closures are necessary for bridge work.
The northbound on-ramp from Newport Avenue is scheduled to close from 11 tonight through 5 a.m. Thursday. The same ramp will be closed continuously for 20 days beginning at midnight on Sunday.
Caltans crews will reconstruct and pave the ramp, highway officials said.
