COSTA MESA : Thousands DARE to Reject Drugs

Share

Two thousand sixth-graders who have taken a pledge to remain drug-free will fill the Pacific Amphitheatre today to celebrate the third annual DARE fair.

The fair will feature entertainment, refreshments and recreational activities to mark the program’s completion.

DARE, which stands for Drug Awareness Resistance Education, is a 17-week curriculum taught by officers from the Newport Beach and Costa Mesa police departments to area schoolchildren. Police officers in the classroom teach students how to resist peer pressure and build self-esteem to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
