Garber to Oversee Rap, Rhythm and Blues Promotion

Hollywood Records named Jesus Garber as vice president of urban promotion. Garber, who will be based in Burbank, will oversee the promotion of rap and rhythm and blues artists for Hollywood Records and Boston International Records. Garber previously was vice president of R&B; promotions at Zoo Entertainment, where he worked with artist Phyllis Hyman.

Marc Shmuger is Columbia Pictures’ new executive vice president of marketing and creative director. Shmuger has worked the last two years as a senior vice president of creative advertising at the studio, and since May, 1992, has headed Columbia’s creative advertising effort. Some of the campaigns he has worked on include “Boyz N the Hood,” “The Prince of Tides” and “A River Runs Through It.”

Susan Ruskin has been named vice president of production at Cinema Line Films Corp., a company whose investors include fashion designer Carole Little. Ruskin was previously head of production at Gene Wilder’s Pal-Mel production company.

Mary Sinclair has been named director of advertising and publicity at Warner Bros. Sinclair joined the studio in 1980 as an assistant in the department and became manager in 1984. Before that, she worked at 20th Century Fox.
