BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Amid Joy of Trip, He Tells Sod Story

Share

The Dodgers’ 4-2 trip was their most successful since they were 6-3 from May 25 to June 3 last season.

“It’s been a long time since we had that much fun,” Coach Joe Ferguson said. “This team is playing up to its capabilities, nothing super human. When one player doesn’t do it, the other guys pick him up.”

Then there was the traveling sod, which the team entrusted to the care of Dodger Stadium groundskeeper Al Meyers.

“It’s in the bullpen, where Al is fertilizing it and trying to revive it,” pitcher Orel Hershiser said.

“It kind of stiffened up on the long plane flight, like a bad back or something.”
