Janet Jackson’s “janet.” is getting a strong challenge from Rod Stewart’s “Unplugged and Seated” (No. 2) and Donald Fagen’s “Kamakiriad” (No. 3) on The Times’ Southern California pop album chart. Fagen’s album doesn’t have the luxury of a hit single, but Stewart’s is getting a boost from “Have I Told You Lately”--No. 8 on the singles chart. Jackson’s album also tops the R&B; chart, but her single, “That’s the Way Love Goes,” was booted out of the top spot by H Town’s “Knockin’ Da Boots.” Anthrax’s “Sound of White Noise” entered the album chart at No. 9, undoubtedly helped by hoopla from its recent Troubadour engagement.
