Moviegoing took a predictable downturn over the weekend after the holiday weekend’s busy pace. “Cliffhanger,” starring Sylvester Stallone, and “Made in America,” starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson, held on to first and second place. In final numbers released Monday, “Cliffhanger” posted another strong weekend with $12.1 million, off only 25% from the first weekend. The comedy “Made in America” pulled in a healthy $7.4 million, and was off the pace of the first weekend by 20%--a sign that indicates it has staying power at the box office.
