Forward Dave Taylor missed his first game of the playoffs Monday night because of a sore right shoulder.

The injury occurred Saturday night in the second period of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals. Taylor skated only two shifts after that, before it was determined he could not continue.

“I got smashed into the boards,” Taylor said. “I didn’t even see who did it.”

Taylor is listed as day to day.

The Grand Old Man of the team at 37 and a 16-year veteran, Taylor has waited his entire career to play in a final series. Missing any part of it, Taylor has found, has caused as much emotional pain as physical pain from his ailing shoulder.

“It’s frustrating,” said Taylor, shaking his head.

Armed with a temporary restraining order obtained by NHL officials in U.S. District Court, U.S. Marshals have confiscated several hundred counterfeit Kings items in a sweep of the Inglewood area.

Most of the unauthorized material consists of shirts and caps.

This is the first such action by the NHL at a Stanley Cup final series, according to league vice president Arthur Pincus, who emphasized that the marshals plan to continue their search for illegal items.
