Nation IN BRIEF : NEBRASKA : Wait for Abortion Is Signed Into Law

Gov. Ben Nelson signed a law requiring women to wait 24 hours for an abortion, making Nebraska the third state to adopt such a measure this year. The law also requires that women receive information about fetal development and abortion alternatives. Laws requiring a waiting period are in effect in a total of 10 other states, although some are being challenged in court.
