Seven women have reported finding razor blades in their unlocked cars when they returned from shopping at stores in Simi Valley on Thursday and Friday, police said.

The women reported finding the blades with the sharp side sticking up in the seat cushions of their vehicles, police said. Some of the victims suffered minor injuries, police said.

The incidents occurred at Vons stores on Los Angeles Avenue and Cochran Street, at a Ralphs grocery store on Los Angeles and a Mervyn’s department store on Cochran Street, police said.

“We have a suspect going around town committing what we’re characterizing as assault with a deadly weapon,” said police Lt. Neal Rein.

Anyone who has had a similar experience is asked to report the incident to police. For protection, police recommended locking vehicles.

“The only cars where this has happened have been unlocked, and the only victims we’ve had have been females in the 25 to 35 age range,” Rein said.

No suspects have been arrested, and an investigation is continuing, police said.
