Harfield Weedin; Veteran Radio, TV Director

Harfield Weedin, 77, veteran radio and television director, producer and writer for all three networks. Weedin began his radio career in Austin while attending the University of Texas, and later served as general manager of KTBC in Austin, owned by Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson. After serving in the Navy at Armed Forces Radio Service in Hollywood, Weedin worked for ABC, where he wrote such popular shows as “Abbott and Costello” and “Meet Corliss Archer” and produced Groucho Marx’s “You Bet Your Life.” In 1958, he co-produced Ralph Edwards’ “End of the Rainbow” on NBC television. In 1961, he moved to KNX radio, and later served as director of programming for the CBS Radio Network until his retirement in 1982. He was a president of Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters and headed the Radio Acquisition Committee to collect radio memorabilia for the Hollywood Museum. On Tuesday in Boise, Ida.
