ACTION NEWS: Don’t get confused if you turn on MTV in the next month. The channel isn’t turning into a 24-hour trailer for “Last Action Hero”--though it might look like it.

Odds are MTV will soon be playing clips for four songs drawn from the Arnold Schwarzenegger fantasy-adventure, all of which feature scenes from the flick. AC/DC’s “Big Gun” is already airing, with tracks coming soon from Queensryche, Megadeth and Alice in Chains, all proven MTV darlings.

MTV is already heavily tied into the film through a massive contest that will bring 20 winners and guests to an MTV-sponsored “Last Action Hero” weekend.

It’s all part of a marketing assault for the soundtrack album. The campaign also offers “Last Action Hero” CD and cassette discounts at three record store chains with coupons available at Burger King.
