Northwest’s Future Still Up in the Air: The Minneapolis-based carrier’s directors adjourned without making a decision and planned to confer again by telephone Monday after company officials meet with the pilots union over the weekend. The directors had been expected to review a final offer to Northwest’s pilots and consider filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Chris Clouser, a senior vice president, said, “While the board is considering all financial options . . . no option under consideration will affect Northwest operations or the public in any way.” Northwest threatened to file for bankruptcy after employees rejected a package of cuts in wages and benefits over three years.
