Claremont : $750,000 Grant to College
Claremont Graduate School has received a $750,000 grant from the James Irvine Foundation to recruit minority faculty and students. The grant will pay for up to 35 fellowships of $10,000 each.
The balance will be spent on recruiting, seminars, workshops, conferences and faculty research projects.
Claremont also plans to offer new courses, such as ethnic studies, within existing departments, a spokesman said.
San Francisco-based Irvine Foundation contributes up to $30 million annually to educational and social service philanthropies in California.
