SANTA CLARITA / ANTELOPE VALLEY : Valencia Man Killed in Hit-and-Run
A 48-year-old Valencia man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as he inspected his horse trailer on the Antelope Valley Freeway near Agua Dulce, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, apparently pulled to the shoulder of the northbound freeway near Escondido Canyon Road about 10 p.m. Saturday, Officer Donna Urquidi said.
As the man walked along the driver’s side of his truck, a Ryder rental truck swerved for unknown reasons from the middle lane of the freeway, struck the victim and sped away, Urquidi said. The Ryder truck was found later.
Urquidi said investigators were searching for the person who rented the truck.
