Profits Decline 28% for California Amplifier

California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo manufacturer of components for satellites and cable systems, said its profits fell 28% in its fiscal first quarter ended May 29 because of smaller international sales of wireless cable products and manufacturing problems.

For the quarter, the company earned $540,000, compared with $754,000 a year earlier. Its sales, however, rose 3% to $8.6 million, from $8.3 million in the same period in the previous year.
