Vietnam’s 1st Stock Exchange to Open in ’94

BANGKOK, Thailand —
Vietnam’s first stock exchange could be operating by late next year, the official Voice of Vietnam radio said Friday.
The government is opening the exchange to accelerate the transition to a market economy, according to the broadcast, monitored in Bangkok.
The exchange will include commercial banks and up to 20 state-owned enterprises now trying to shift to private management.
