Surf Classic: Surfers were doing their thing in the background during a press conference last week on the sand in Huntington Beach when Ocean Pacific Chief Executive Officer John Warner admitted that he wasn’t a surfer. However, Warner, 43, said that he truly enjoys watching surfers, especially at the OP Pro Surfing Championship. The 12th annual OP Pro, which was held last weekend at the Huntington Beach pier, was “a marketing and advertising event,” Warner said. “It isn’t viewed as a money-maker.” In fact, OP spent an estimated $300,000, including prize money, to stage the annual surfing classic.
