Los Feliz : Center for Blind Gets Award

The Blind Children’s Center in Los Feliz has received the Distinguished Service Award from the low vision section of the American Optometric Assn. in recognition of the center’s 55 years of public service to children up to 5 years of age who are blind or visually impaired.
The center works with infants and toddlers and their families in a preschool setting, and publishes a variety of booklets that are distributed worldwide. Most recently, it published a textbook on how to work with visually impaired youngsters. A bicultural program for Latinos is also offered.
The center received a plaque, one of two awards presented each year by the low vision section of the optometric association.
