A multi-agency sweep of three Oxnard houses early Wednesday resulted in the arrest of one of three suspects in a June shooting that left two Oxnard men hospitalized with gunshot wounds, police said.
The two other suspects are still being sought.
Wendell Raquedan, 18, of Oxnard was arrested by Port Hueneme police about 7 a.m. Wednesday at his house after police from Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme served one of three search warrants. Two other warrant searches Wednesday did not locate the other suspects or other evidence related to the June 12 shooting, police said.
Raquedan, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, is accused of participating in the shooting with two other men outside a party in Port Hueneme.
David Rubio, 18, was shot once in the stomach, and Cruz Espinoza, 24, was shot once in the lower back as they stood outside a party on 7th Street in Port Hueneme, police said. Both survived the attack, police said.
Investigators said Raquedan, Leonard Cupal, 18, and Matthew Bolo, 18, were responsible, but have not said who did the actual shooting.
Officials are asking that anyone with information about the whereabouts of Cupal or Bolo to call the Port Hueneme Police Department at 986-6530.
