Semiconductor Sales Remain Strong: Shipments of semiconductor chips in the U.S. market grew at a record pace last month, up 39.5% from a year ago, according to monthly statistics from the Semiconductor Industry Assn. The so-called book-to-bill ratio, which measures sales strength by charting new orders against actual shipments, slipped to a still-healthy 1.1 for June, down from 1.13 in May and 1.19 in January.
