Good as Gold Beach

Share

The article “Roaming Oregon Trails” (June 27) has prompted my first letter to you. Michael Parrish’s description of Gold Beach as “an ordinary one-street, seaside town” except for the motel/lodge he likes, annoyed me since my husband and I have been vacationing in Gold Beach for the past 20 years.

Gold Beach is situated where the Rogue River meets the Pacific Ocean. Since the river is designated as a wild river area, we have enjoyed numerous jet boat rides up the river to see wildlife and magnificent scenery. Furthermore, there are many lodgings with ocean or river views to fit all pocketbooks and tastes. Gold Beach has wonderful seafood restaurants and is a major lure for salmon fishermen. Parrish sounds like the people who dismiss Stonehenge as a pile of rocks.
