BARCELONA, Spain —
Police arrested a narcotics smuggler who swallowed enough cocaine to make thousands of individual doses, a local government spokesman said Friday.
The man was arrested at the airport on a tip from U.S. officials. An X-ray showed 61 packets of cocaine, weighing a total of 28 ounces, with a street value of $60,000, officers said. The man, from El Salvador, flew here via Guatemala City and Amsterdam.
