WORLD IN BRIEF : HAITI : Political Parties Sign Pact for Democracy
From Times Staff and Wire Services
Haitian political parties meeting at the United Nations signed a pact that restructures Parliament and paves the way to bring exiled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide back. The political parties’ support is vital to the peace process because Parliament must ratify Aristide’s nomination of a prime minister and government.
