DOWNTOWN : Asian Leadership Honorees Named
Five individuals and one organization will be be honored for their contributions to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities at the 10th anniversary dinner of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics Inc. on Friday .
The honorees are:
* David Barclay, vice president and chief developer of work force diversity programs at Hughes Aircraft Co.,
* Helen Brown, founder and director of the Pilipino American Reading Room and Library,
* David H. Kim, chairman of the Korean American Grocers Assn. and Foundation,
* Yang Il Kim, president of the National Korean American Grocers Assn.,
* James Riady, deputy chairman of the Lippo Group, a multibillion-dollar federation of integrated companies,
* The Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Southern California, which is also celebrating its 10th year.
The leadership group was founded as a nonprofit community organization to mobilize the talent and resources of Asian and Pacific Islander communities, nurture leaders and foster greater public understanding of these communities. The annual dinner is its major fund-raiser.
Proceeds will go to its Leadership Management Institute workshops and the national Asian Pacific American Public Policy Institute.
The dinner is at the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles, 711 S. Hope St. Individual seats are available for $75 to $500. Corporate and group table prices range from $750 to $5,000 per table of 10. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7.
