Two former Ferrari mechanics and an ex-sports car dealer were charged with setting up “the largest Ferrari counterfeit operation ever.”
Imitations of the “Prancing Stallion” cars were so good that it took factory experts and an analysis of construction materials to determine the forgery.
Ten “Ferraris” at various stages of production were confiscated. The group allegedly made about $328,000 on every car. Originals go for up to $2.6 million for a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.
