ATL President Appointed to Odetics Board

Kevin Daly has been appointed to the board of directors of Odetics Inc., an Anaheim manufacturer of information automation products. He is president of the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, ATL Products. Daly joined Odetics in 1985 as director of space systems. He was promoted to vice president and chief technical officer in 1987, and became president of ATL Products when it became an Odetics subsidiary earlier this year. Before joining Odetics, Daly spent 11 years with Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Inc. in Cambridge, Mass., and four years in the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Organization. In addition, Tom Bartholet has been promoted to vice president of corporate development. He joined Odetics in 1983 as director of strategic planning. In 1986, Bartholet became general manager of the company’s Advanced Intelligent Machines development group and became director of corporate development in 1990. Before joining Odetics, Bartholet was with Touche Ross & Co., Varian Associates and Westinghouse Electric.

* Frank A. Kasala has joined Integrated Control Systems Inc. as a vice president of the company’s Asian operation. He has more than 25 years’ experience in Asia, including senior program administrator with Howard Hughes Aerospace and managing director-Japan for Ford-Philco. Kasala has also been chief executive of Eastern Consultants International out of Japan and Hong Kong. Integrated Control Systems in Newport Beach is a management engineering firm.

* Peter Stephan has been appointed secretary-treasurer of the National Institute of Pension Administrators, a Tustin-based nonprofit educational foundation. Stephan is president of the Pension Group Inc. in Irvine.

* Theodore W. Smith has joined Sutro & Co. as senior vice president and manager of the Newport Beach office. He was formerly manager of the Los Angeles office of Kemper Securities. Smith was also director of retail marketing for Shearson Lehman Brothers.

* Tung-chen Chung has been elected to the board of directors of the Southern California Chinese American Environmental Protection Assn., a group that identifies opportunities for the United States, Taiwan and Mainland China to work together on environmental projects. Chung is manager of acoustical and air quality services at Michael Brandman Associates in Santa Ana.

* Thomas Smith has been promoted to vice president of operations for the West Coast for Home Depot, the home improvement retailer. He was previously district manager for Northern California and Washington. Smith has been with the company nine years.
