From Times Staff and Wire Reports

‘Crazy Eddie’ Found Guilty: Eddie Antar was convicted of conspiring to deceive investors in his retail electronics chain and making $75 million by selling his stock at an inflated price. He faces a prison term that could theoretically stretch to more than a century. Jurors found Antar guilty of 17 counts of racketeering, mail and wire fraud after five days of deliberations in federal court in Newark, N.J. His brother, Mitchell, was also convicted, while another brother, Allen, was acquitted. Prosecutors charged that Eddie Antar orchestrated a scheme to boost Crazy Eddie Inc.’s reported profit by inflating inventory.
