BEVERLY HILLS : Davis Disputes French Claims on Recovered Jewels
Oilman Marvin Davis on Tuesday disputed statements by French police that most of the millions of dollars in jewels and cash recently stolen from the billionaire and his wife in Nice were recovered.
Through a spokesman, Davis said that only “a ring and a small amount of cash” were returned. The Davises were robbed a few weeks ago in the south of France by four masked gunmen who pulled up in a limousine beside the one occupied by the Americans.
Police in Nice, who the spokesman said reported that 75% of the stolen property had been recovered, are still investigating the theft. Two associates allegedly involved in the crime have been arrested, a Davis spokesman said.
