Two Los Angeles police officers were injured in Canoga Park after a high-speed chase and foot pursuit of two burglary suspects through the West San Fernando Valley, an LAPD officer said Tuesday.

The chase began in West Hills when officers arrested Peter Carrillo, 26, on suspicion of burglary at a home in the 23300 block of Saticoy Street on Monday afternoon, Sgt. Roger Ferguson said.

A second suspect identified as Wilfredo Robles, 29, left the area in a late-model Oldsmobile, leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended at Alabama Avenue and Bassett Street in Canoga Park, where Robles stopped his car.

Robles threw the vehicle into reverse--crashing it into a patrol car that had pulled up from behind--injuring Officer Roger Mossett, who suffered a lower back strain, Ferguson said. Robles allegedly jumped out of the car and ran.

Officer Juan Perez chased the suspect across two house roofs and sprained his right leg when he followed Robles and jumped off a roof, Ferguson said. Officers discovered Robles hiding behind a door inside the home of Carrillo’s brother, Larry Carrillo, 28, in the 6900 block of Alabama Avenue, who was taken into the police custody on suspicion of harboring a criminal.

Robles was being held on suspicion of burglary, felony evading and assault with a deadly weapon, Ferguson said. “All three are ex-convicts . . . hard-core gang members and career criminals,” he said.
