IRVINE : Irvine Valley College Gets Acting President
- Share via
Terry Burgess, vice president of instruction at Irvine Valley College, has been named acting president of the 10,000-student campus, officials announced this week.
Burgess will temporarily replace president Anna L. McFarlin, who will serve as interim chancellor of the Saddleback Community College District until a permanent chancellor is named.
Both appointments were made by the district’s Board of Trustees and are effective Aug. 31.
Burgess, 45, is a Lake Forest resident who has worked at Irvine Valley College since 1979. He served as a biology instructor before being named vice president of instruction in 1986.
It remains unclear when a permanent chancellor for the district will be named, but spokesman George McCrory said it could be as early as this October.
Once a chancellor is found, both McFarlin and Burgess will return to their old jobs.
