Music Adds International Flavor to Taste of San Pedro
More than 20 restaurants and California wineries will contribute to the International Taste of San Pedro festival on Sunday at the Cabrillo Marina. Contributing Los Angeles County restaurants include Madeo’s Ristorante, Moonraker and Raffaello’s Ristorante.
The day includes entertainment by Mexican dancers, the International Children’s Choir, the Del Rubio Triplets and the Sweet Adelines.
Admission to the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is $4 for adults and $1 for children 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free.
Tickets may be purchased in advance for $3 each from the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce or at any branch of the Bank of San Pedro.
Scrip will be sold at the event for $1 and can be redeemed for a “taste,” with most items priced between $1 and $4.
There is a lot for free parking at 22nd Street and Harbor Boulevard, from which a free shuttle service will carry passengers to and from the festival.

The Biarritz in Newport Beach is offering a daily “recession buster” prix fixe lunch or dinner for two for $19.95. Diners may choose soup or salad and one of four entrees: duck a l’orange, rack of lamb, poached salmon or boiled sausage. Regular menu prices at the restaurant are $7.95 to $12.95 for lunch entrees, $8.95 to $24.95 at dinner.

BJ’s Chicago Pizzeria plans to open a new franchise, at 209 Main St. in Seal Beach, just a few blocks from the pier. The opening date has not been scheduled.
JW’s restaurant at the Anaheim Marriott will host a winemaker dinner featuring the wines of California’s Chalk Hill Winery on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m.
The cost is $70 per person, including tax and gratuities.
JW’s chef, John McLaughlin, has created a four-course dinner menu to accompany the wines. A cold shellfish consomme will be served with a 1991 Sauvignon blanc; the second course is a center cut swordfish with a 1991 Chardonnay; spicy marinated beef prepared Sicilian-style will be paired with a 1990 Cabernet, and a late harvest 1986 semillon will accompany a surprise dessert.
