A.C. Green Weighing Offers From Lakers, Suns, Others

A.C. Green has received contract proposals from several teams, including “a number of offers” from the Phoenix Suns, according to his agent, Marc Fleisher.

However, Fleisher said he doesn’t expect Green to make a decision soon.

“A number of teams that are interested in him currently do not have salary slots big enough and would have to make some moves in order to clear slots,” Fleisher said. “We do have patience, if that’s what it takes. Most likely, it’s not going to happen tomorrow. It could take a week to the rest of the summer.”

Green, 29, an unrestricted free agent, has rejected two offers from the Lakers. General Manager Jerry West on Wednesday reiterated his intention of re-signing the forward, but said he hadn’t heard from Fleisher in weeks. Fleisher said he and West hadn’t set a timetable for their talks and added that Green still regards the Lakers highly.

Fleisher wouldn’t identify the other teams that have made proposals to Green other than to say the Philadelphia 76ers were “a good guess” and to confirm the Suns’ offers. He also said he and Green met with Sun President Jerry Colangelo in Phoenix earlier this week.

Sedale Threatt’s status might be settled by the end of the week. “We’re going to sign him,” West said of the point guard, who exercised an option to become an unrestricted free agent. “He doesn’t want to play anywhere else. We’ve talked a little bit and we’re working on a few things.”

Threatt’s attorney, John Langel, said he had sent a proposal to West on Tuesday and expected a response Friday.
