Retro : Nuggets of Nostalgia

Fans of such oldies but goodies as “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “The Brady Bunch” and “All in the Family” will be in “Retro Heaven” this week. Each day, TBS is offering reunion shows, movies and special episodes of vintage series.

First up Monday morning at 7:05 is The Brady Bunch in Hawaii. Everyone’s favorite family goes on an Hawaiian vacation, but strange things begin to happen to the bunch when Bobby Brady discovers an ancient idol that he thinks is good luck. But the idol only brings bad karma to the gang. Episodes featured in the 90-minute presentation are “Hawaii Bound,’ “Pass the Tabu” and “The Tiki Caves.”

At 10:05, Little Buddy and the rest of the shipwrecked castaways of “Gilligan’s Island” are finally rescued, after 15 years, in the 1978 TV movie Rescue From Gilligan’s Island. Bob Denver and Alan Hale Jr. star.

Tuesday is a “Ghoul-den” day for comedy: The 1985 retrospective The Best of the Munsters (7:05 a.m.) stars Grandpa (Al Lewis) recalling some of the funniest scenes from the ‘60s CBS sitcom, which also starred the late Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo and Butch Patrick.

The 1977 Halloween With the Addams Family (10:05 a.m.) features the original cast of the 1964-66 ABC series--John Astin, Carolyn Jones and Jackie Coogan--reuniting for their favorite holiday.

Three’s Company Summer Special (Wednesday at 7:05 a.m.) features four episodes of the 1977-84 ABC sex comedy, which starred John Ritter, Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt as three mismatched roommates sharing a Santa Monica apartment.

The 1977 Sanford & Son: The Hawaiian Connection (Wednesday at 10:05 a.m.) finds Fred (Redd Foxx) and son Lamont (Demond Wilson) becoming unwittingly involved in a jewel heist when they’re offered a free trip to Hawaii to attend the annual Junkmen of America convention.

Two of America’s favorite TV families--the Clampetts and the Bunkers--take a chunk out of the TBS lineup on Thursday. Beverly Hillbillies: Jethro and the Military (7:05 a.m.) explores Jethro’s rather misguided military career in the episodes “Greetings From the President,” “The Army Game,” “Jethro’s Military Career” and “Military School.”

When Archie’s union goes on strike, the Bunker household has to pinch pennies and worry about the future in the two-hour All in the Family: The Bunkers and Inflation (Thursday at 10:05 a.m.).

For the legions who love Lucy, TBS presents four hours of “I Love Lucy” beginning Friday at 7:05 a.m. The classic episodes in the TBS Loves Lucy retrospective are: “Job Switching,” “The Handcuffs,” “Lucy Does a TV Commercial,” “The Diet,” “Lucy’s Italian Movie,” “L.A. At Last, “Lucy Visits Grauman’s,” “Lucy and John Wayne,” “Harpo Marx” and “Lucy Goes to the Hospital.”

TBS rounds out the week with 5 1/2 hours of the 1977-83 NBC cop series CHiPS. (Friday at 9:35 p.m.).
