Teamsters OK Northwest Proposal: As the last of Northwest Airlines’ unions approved an $886-million concessions package, the debt-laden carrier’s parent company announced a loss for the second quarter. Ninety-two percent of the 6,130 Teamsters union members who voted by mail nationwide approved the deal, the union announced. The pact will make deep cuts in wages and benefits. In exchange, employees will own at least 30% of Northwest stock and hold 15% of board seats. NWA Inc., which lost more than $1 billion in 1992, reported a loss of $135 million in this year’s second quarter, compared to a net loss of $146 million for the period last year. However, the company also reported an operating profit of $19.7 million for the April-June period, compared to $131 million for last year’s second quarter.
