Ruth Bader Ginsburg

* I am now confused by Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s call for equality between the sexes. She says, “It is essential to a woman’s equality with man that she be the decision-maker, that her choice be controlling” (July 22).

Women have something men will never be have, the miracle to bear life. Now it’s important to reduce this ability to be equal with men. I find this to be completely in error.

There is a tragic thought that a fetus is a nonentity in the first trimester. At the point of conception, the embryo is living and growing. We know the cause of pregnancy. All pro-choice/anti-abortion voices ignore this extremely important fact. Unprotected sex will produce pregnancy. And women are being put into bondage by the pro-choice movement. They are preaching no responsibility in the bedroom, an easy way to correct a mistake, and life is no longer sacred.

Don’t try to make women merely equal with reproductive rights. Doing this takes away the superiority of the God-given gift of bearing children from women.

* I had mixed opinions regarding Supreme Court nominee Ginsburg, but I have made up my mind. I applaud her comments that the choice of abortion or continuation of a pregnancy should be made by the woman alone. The woman bears and carries the child and the father should have little to say. I applaud her comments.

My husband once said if men could become pregnant, abortion would have been legal hundreds of years ago.
