Cyrix, Intel Settle Patent Issues: The two companies had a series of disagreements over a math co-processor case that began in 1990. The firms requested that the court dismiss the claims that were to be heard at an October trial scheduled to address Cyrix’s allegations of invalidity of the Intel ‘675 and ‘629 patents, alleged violation of the antitrust laws and Intel’s accusations of infringement of the ‘675 and ‘629 patents by Cyrix with respect to products manufactured and sold to Cyrix by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Some related issues remain to be settled in court, but regardless of the outcome, the companies have agreed that Cyrix is licensed under the ‘675 and ‘629 patents.
