Viratek Posts $1.1-Million Loss in 2nd Quarter
Viratek Inc., the Costa Mesa company that develops and licenses pharmaceutical compounds, recorded a second-quarter net loss of $1.1 million, or 7 cents a share, contrasted with a profit of $152,000, or 1 cent per share, for the 1992 second quarter. Revenue more than doubled, to $540,000 from $265,000. The company attributed the loss to increased research and development spending. For the first six months, the company lost $822,000, or 5 cents a share, on revenue of $2 million. That contrasts with a profit of $1.5 million, or 11 cents a share, on revenue of $2.3 million for the first half of 1992.
