DEBBI MORGAN TAKES HER ‘DOCTORING’ TO ANOTHER SOAP

Debbi Morgan is another former daytime star who is returning to the fold. Although Morgan will be reprising her former daytime role of Dr. Angie Hubbard, the switch is that the actress has signed with “Loving” and not her former soap, “All My Children,” where she created the role of Angie in 1982.

In Morgan’s “Loving” story line, a pregnant Shana Vochek (Susan Keith) will become one of Hubbard’s patients. Morgan made her first appearance on “Loving” last week.

Morgan played Angie Hubbard on “All My Children” until late 1989, when she left the show and moved to the West Coast. Before her stint on “All My Children,” Morgan played Lynette Porter on the late-night soap “Behind the Screen” (1981-82).

After leaving “All My Children” she joined the cast of the now-defunct soap “Generations” as Chantal Marshall. Morgan received a Daytime Emmy nomination for outstanding ingenue for her portrayal of Hubbard in 1985-86. Morgan also has made several guest appearances on the Fox series “Roc,” which stars her husband, Charles Dutton.

Also new to “Loving” and to daytime television is veteran actor Tony Musante, who is probably most familiar to television viewers for his starring role in the series “Toma.” Musante debuted last month as Robert (Mac) McKenzie Huston.

In the story, Mac will reappear in the life of his son, Trucker McKenzie (Robert Tyler), after Tess (Catherine Hickland) talks him into helping her get her hands on the money that Trucker is to inherit from the estate of his supposedly deceased wife. Because Mac abandoned Trucker when he was a teen-ager, Trucker was surprised to see his dear old dad, whom he thought was dead. Making her daytime debut along with Musante is actress Nora Mae Lyng, who will play Mac’s girlfriend, Dolly.

Country crooner Brad Maule, who plays Tony Jones on “General Hospital,” has completed work on his second album, which he has titled “Chameleon.” Maule is describing the sound of his second album as “comparable to Lyle Lovett.” The album is set to be released in September.

“Loving” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC. “General Hospital” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
