STUDIO CITY : Owner of Appliance Shop Loses License

The owner of a Studio City appliance repair shop has lost his business license for fraudulent activities, a state investigator said.
Officials from the state Department of Consumer Affairs said that Joseph Jacob Arnold, owner of A Speedy Major Appliance Repair, 13261 Ventura Blvd., misled customers in advertising, failed to complete repairs and charged customers in excess of approved estimates.
Arnold, who was not available for comment, has left the Studio City location.
The revocation became effective immediately after a hearing Monday that Arnold did not attend.
The revocation stemmed from customer complaints that Arnold and his employees were incompetently repairing appliances, leaving customers with no alternative other than to have the items repaired at additional cost.
